Mercy D Lai is the 2014 winner of Kikwetu Pwani Artist Of The Year at Mwafaka Awards.

She is one of the most inspiring Gospel artists in the country. She started singing in church at a tender age and in high school she would be the preferred lead singer in many music festivals representing her school. 

Mercy D Lai decided to take her music ministry to a higher level in 2010 when she started recording her first album titled "Ebenezer" which she later released in 2011. Through the album she was able to reach a wider audience as it got a massive airplay on national media. Mercy would later get a number of Nominations on several annual awarding platforms.

Today, Mercy is a songwriter and a Praise & worship leader at Jesus Celebration Centre, Mombasa. 

She has won several nominations in which she has successfully scooped a number of awards including;

Groove Awards: Pwani Song Of The Year 2012
Groove Awards: Pwani Song Of The Year 2013
Coast Awards: Female Artist Of The Year 2012
Xtreem Awards: Female Artist Of The Year 2013

This year Mercy D Lai scouped the Kikwetu Pwani Artist Of The Year at Mwafaka Awards and she was also a nominee at the 2014 Groove Awards in 3 categories as; 

- Female Artist Of The Year 2014
- Album Of The Year 2014
- Pwani Song Of The Year 2014

Mercy D Lai is happily married as it can be picked from a few words her Husband David Lai posted on their 6th Anniversary which they celebrated on 27th, September, On His face book page he posted ..

 "To u my love since when i met u u were my angel and u still are these six years have proven to me that our love can never b broken i love u n i pledge my life to u u mean everything to me your husband ur man and my everything Happy Anniversary Mercy my baby aka Mercy D Lai..."

Mercy D Lai is a mentor to a number of up and rising gospel artists including a gospel group called B4C (Born For Christ)

In her few words she explains her ministry as follows:

"I am a Songwriter, Composer, Wife, Mother and a Gospel Musician for Christ who believes in True worship according to the Word of God.... For Christ has been my Savior and Redeemer, He saved me and knew me before I knew Him and has shown me the way until now.
